Located on the slopes of Mount Kenya, the World Reach Orphanage houses children who are orphaned, rejected, neglected or ignored by society. Many of these children end up on the street if no one intervenes. Orphanage children have been rescued from the risk of being abused by adults or inducing self-inflicted harm by sniffing petroleum to get their minds off the difficulties they face. Kenyan “House Mothers” raise the children in a loving Christian environment where the children are provided shelter, food, schooling and medicare attention.
Children live in the orphanage during their “standard” school years, which is equivalent to United States grades 1-8. Upon completion of standard school, students are placed in either “form” school (equivalent to United States high school) or “trade/vocational” school. Both form school and trade/vocational school are boarding schools. The orphanage covers the students’ boarding costs at these schools. Approximately 15 children are currently being provided for through the orphanage.
The orphanage has been giving Kenyan children hope and opportunity since 1987. It is funded by personal contributions and grant money.
